Little Professor celebrates 50th birthday with a new location

Little Professor, a Birmingham classic bookshop, announced they are moving to a new location just in time for its 50th year in business. The local stop for book lovers is moving down the street to the former Nadeau building on 18th street. Keep reading for all you need to know about the big move.

Why the new space?

According to the Homewood Star, the new location will be two stories and offer an expanded children’s area, outdoor space and more.

Little Professor opened its second location at Pepper Place in the fall of 2022, which will be helpful during the Homewood location’s transition.

Owner Meredith Robinson told the Homewood Star that she envisions this addition as a place where customers can come not only to shop for new books but to enjoy a cup of coffee and sit to read or study.

Fellow book lovers can agree—bookstores tend to make you feel at home the second you walk through the door. Birmingham locals can agree—Little Professor is no stranger to fostering community. This new space will continue to serve as the community hub that Little Professor already beautifully provides at all locations.

Other additions

Little Professor is known for their popular events such as book clubs, trivia nights and children’s story times. To provide plenty of space for these events, the new location will offer additions such as:

• The space to host 50-100 people
• Designated parking for book clubs
• New shelves similar to those at the Pepper Place location
• 20% more inventory space

Birmingham’s oldest bookstore has provided courtesy, community and top-notch customer service since opening their doors in 1972. We’re sure things are only looking up for Little Professor as they prepare their new home.
